Empress Pipeline Project
Veresen, through its subsidiary, Veresen NGL Pipeline, is developing the Empress Pipeline Project (the “Pipeline Project”). The Pipeline Project is a new high vapour pressure 10” steel pipeline that will transport ethane from existing pipeline infrastructure located approximately 29 km south of Empress, Alberta to a new ethane storage facility located 25 km north of Burstall, Saskatchewan.
The bi-directional pipeline will be used to transport ethane between these two locations. Ethane is the primary feedstock for the petrochemical industry.
The pipeline will be installed in a 10-metre (33 feet) right of way, at a minimum depth of 1.2 metres (4 feet) to the top of the pipe. It is anticipated an additional 10 metres (33 feet) of temporary work space will be needed along the right of way for construction and the safe movement of construction vehicles and personnel.
Additional temporary work space will also be required at road crossings and if any wetlands are traversed.
