Veresen’s midstream business includes North America’s largest extraction and fractionation plant located at the terminus of the Alliance pipeline, near Chicago, Illinois, as well as natural gas processing, short-haul gas transportation and NGL pipelines and other related facilities. The assets of Alliance Pipeline and Aux Sable form a high energy natural gas delivery system that is unique to North America.
During the second quarter of 2011, Aux Sable successfully executed on this strategy with the acquisition of the Prairie Rose Pipeline and the Stanley Gas Plant in the Bakken shale oil play of North Dakota. This acquisition gives Aux Sable a strategic infrastructure position to provide producer services and attract very rich Bakken natural gas to the Channahon Facility by way of the Prairie Rose and Alliance Pipelines.
In the first quarter of 2011, Aux Sable continued to advance its strategy of attracting new sources of liquids-rich natural gas for the Channahon Facility by acquiring the expansion of the Septimus Gas Plant, located in the Montney region of British Columbia. As a result of this expansion, the Septimus Gas Plant’s processing capacity has increased from 25 mmcf/d to 60 mmcf/d. Liquids rich natural gas from the Septimus Gas Plant is transported to the Channahon Facility by way of Aux Sable’s Septimus pipeline and the Alliance Pipeline.
Aux Sable Canada adds value to western Canada’s refining, upgrading and petrochemical industries through the processing of off-gas from upgrader and refinery operations.
