During the last three years we have grown our power generation business and continue to assess high-value, low-risk power investments. Our power assets consist of two district energy systems, a 100 percent interest in four gas-fired power facilities, a 100 percent interest in the Glen Park Hydroelectric facility, a 50 percent interest in NRGreen, a 75 percent interest in East Windsor cogeneration and a 75 percent interst in two waste heat power generation facilities in British Columbia. Veresen Inc. holds 50 percent interest in the York Energy Centre, under construction north of Toronto and interests in a number of run-of-river hydroelectric power projects in B.C. Veresen Inc. is also actively pursuing the development of a number of other power projects, including wind power projects in Ontario under the Feed in Tarriff process.
The district energy systems, located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and London, Ontario, together have approximately 185 megawatts (MW) of thermal and electric generation capacity. These stable, long-term investments provide reliable operational service and excellent growth opportunities for providing steam and chilled water to new and existing customers.
